Summer at the Bay
Summer at Hilliard’s Bay has a rhythm all its own, shaped by the events and traditions that bring everyone together. Canada Day brings a parade through the community — golf carts, floats, kids in costumes, and everyone lining the streets. The annual beach party pulls the whole community down to the shore for games, tournaments, and long afternoons that stretch into the evening.
The golf cart poker rally is a favourite, and garage sale day turns the neighbourhood into one big loop of stops, deals, and conversations. In between it all, the beach is yours — swimming, boating, and fishing on Lesser Slave Lake all summer long.

Winter on Lesser Slave Lake
Winter at Hilliard’s Bay doesn’t slow things down — it moves out onto the ice. As the lake freezes over, a village of ice fishing shacks takes shape, with well-worn paths connecting everything across the lake.
Days are spent ice fishing, skating, and playing pickup hockey, with people crossing the ice from shack to shack. Lesser Slave Lake is known for some of the best ice fishing in Alberta, with walleye, pike, and perch drawing anglers from across the province.

A Community That Feels Like Home
The events committee is volunteer-run and open to all residents. Whether you want to help plan the next poker rally or start something new, it’s easy to get involved.
A private community group keeps everyone connected year-round, and new arrivals are welcomed in right away.
That’s what makes Hilliard’s Bay different. You’re not just buying a place at the lake, you’re also becoming part of a community.
